I often photograph outdoors where I locate similar subjects: a misplaced animal, errant material arrangements on the ground, a storm damaged tree. Drawing on Goethe’s concept of the Urphanomen (a primordial, ongoing occurrence), I use my experiences photographing these subjects to build a more holistic and intuitive knowledge of my surroundings. 

In Harrow, I make photographs across the Bay Area ending up on a handful of farms in the Sacramento Valley. Across these different landscapes, I draw out tableaus of intermittently disturbed environments. A fence mended with electrical tape, footsteps tamping down spring grass, a white 'x' on a charred tree trunk. All evidently human acts of repair. As photographs, they can be arranged as arrows pointing towards a future recovery.
