Starting in 2022, people began bringing me their mementoes. Usually a small box or cup filled with sticks, stones, paper valentines, wrappers, hair, marbles, figurines, hastily written notes, pieces of plastic found on the street, walnuts, buttons, wire... In turn I took a portrait and photographed their vessel and a selection of the contents therein.

It turns out we are more like bower birds and the humble pack rat than initially thought. I dedicate this project to small things, friends, coworkers, and strangers alike, all of whom made this project come to be.

I made two decks of 3.5x5 inch jumbo playing cards and stuck them in an aluminum tin (lid designed by David Albertson.) In addition to the two decks of cards, each box includes a butcher paper poster, an index rolled into a scroll as well as a unique trinket.

The first run was a set of 50 boxes.
